Summary of Position
Maintains a quality product, consistent with Starz's high broadcast and international standards, by screening materials, identifying film, video, audio, text asset and file flaws, rejecting and/or approving content for broadcast and international markets.
Night Shift Position – 5pm-2am M-F
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Analyze video, audio, text asset and file data to insure program materials are consistent with Starz Entertainment's technical duplication specifications
• Navigate the QC Premiere Form, POA and IBMS software to accurately obtain information to conduct and create accurate Quality Control reports
• Verify all version specific elements are received, such as Surround/Stereo audio, foreign language dubs, CC/subtitle/forced narrative text assets, etc.
• Screen materials for technical and aesthetic flaws and problems. Detail and rank flaws for severity, accept or reject content as required
• Perform detailed QC passes on Starz Originals materials to ensure they maintain the highest level of quality
• Identify and log feature/series data such as in and out points, content format attributes, audio channel information, and copyright information
• Ensure the accuracy of QC related data in internal company databases
• Perform closed captions, CC/Subtitle/Forced Narrative, original version and foreign language dubbed audio quality checks
• Perform edits to features, Starz Originals and series for semi-textless creation or conformance to international and broadcast specifications
• Create video and audio fix files as needed for broadcast and international delivery
• Correct sync and make basic fixes to CC and subtitle assets in Mac Captions
• Verify metadata and file specs where applicable
• Compile detailed and accurate Quality Control reports for all materials viewed
• Identify runtime discrepancies between title versions in preparation for text asset sync edits
• Evaluate materials associated with internal work orders such as sub distributed content and create new master dubs/files
• Evaluate acquisition screener files and DVDs/Blu-rays as needed
• Special project version verification research
• Maintain quality control suite (i.e. cleaning equipment and maintain supplies, etc.) when needed
• Prepare and file maintenance request on the intranet
• Attend periodic departmental meetings
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Film Studies or equivalent field preferred; minimum 1 year professional experience in TV or related industry, within a Quality Control position and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• One year experience operating professional file and tape based production and broadcast equipment
• Familiarity with audio/video monitoring
• Experience identifying and differentiating film and video problems
• Ability to create projects in NLE programs (Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premier)
• Ability to edit and output correct file types in NLE programs (Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premier and Final Cut Pro).
• Knowledgeable in all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Project software applications
• Previous experience with UHD, HD, and digitally encoded media such as Windows Media, QuickTime, and VC1
• A working knowledge of VBR, CBR, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, Pro Res (all forms)
• Knowledge in both Mac and PC based operating systems
