KY3 and KSPR are part of a seven-station group in Springfield, MO. KY3 is one of the most dominant NBC affiliates in the country, while KSPR is an up-and-coming ABC station. KYCW, the high-rated CW station, also broadcasts from the same studio, and the combined newsrooms produce newscasts for all three stations. Job Summary/Description:

KY3, the award-winning dominant number one station in the beautiful Ozark mountains is looking for a morning news anchor. This NBC affiliate also does news for the ABC station (KSPR) and the Ozarks CW. We are looking for an aggressive anchor who is passionate about covering local news and weather. The successful candidate should be an energetic ''morning person'' who can give viewers something to look forward to in the mornings. We need someone who can solo-anchor when necessary for several hours. We are a newsroom that values creativity, hard work, and enterprise hard news story ideas centered on safety and security. We need an anchor who will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the newsroom, be a mentor to staff members, and can help research stories.

Your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:
• Be able to ''work'' a touchscreen on-air smoothly
• Be able to move around on set, in at least one newscast, the anchor is not seated
• Be able to anchor at least two hours of news a day throughout your shift.
• Research, gather, shoot, write, edit and report news stories for on-air and online in the most accurate, appealing, timely and creative way using all sources. Be able to do regular franchise or special reports as assigned by news director.
• Be able to write in a clear, concise, conversational manner and must read through scripts thoroughly before going on-air.
• Possess excellent interview and conversational writing/presentation skills
• Report ''live'' on the scene, especially during breaking news or weather
• Develop and maintain sources of information and knowledge about assignments
• Demonstrate sound news judgment, collaborate with others to present the story in the best way possible.
• Mentor other staff members (will be assigned one MMJ)
• Be able to ad-lib for hours during breaking news or weather
• Must be able to utilize non-linear editing equipment on a daily basis
• Enterprise hard-news, research-driven packages under tight deadlines
• Participate in story selection process through meetings. Daily contribution of lead story ideas centering on safety and security is required
• Attend/host/speak at community service, schools, and community events regularly (several times a month); meet and greet viewers
• Post and regularly update stories and other material on the web and social media per station requirements. Interaction with viewers on social media is a must, including the ability to do Facebook lives regularly.
• Communicate with the web staff and other appropriate staff members during breaking news
• Follow clothing and appearance guidelines set by the news director
• Must be a visual storyteller; perform creative stand-ups and explanatory, moving live shots when needed.
• Evenings, weekends, mornings and holidays will be required
• Make regular beat checks in the evening to update stories from earlier in the day
• Be willing to learn or possess a broad and working knowledge of the viewing area, including people, places, things, and history
• Critique, feedback, and training are part of the job
• Produce, anchor at least 15-30 minutes a day on OTT from the ''Alert Desk''
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
• Excellent live reporting skills and strong on-camera presentation skills
• Ability to carry, shoot and edit video with digital cameras
• Able to work independently with limited supervision
• Work well in a team environment
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
• Strong initiative and attention to detail
• Demonstrate solid news judgment and journalistic ethics
• Maintain professional and ethical conduct at the station and in the community
• Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a manner that will mesh well with co-workers, supervisors and viewers
• Must stay current with national and local news/weather, know what is going on in the community

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Must have anchored at a local or network television station for at least three years
• Bachelor degree in journalism or related field is preferred
• Work with ENPS and Grass Valley Edius editing is a plus
