Job Description
The Weekend News Producer crafts KXAN news programs on Saturday and Sunday evenings. It's important this employee collaborates to make important editorial decisions and writes reports that matter to Central Texans, including in-depth content that sets KXAN apart from other local news outlets. During the week, this employee serves as an associate producer and the primary fill-in producer for early and late evening newscasts.
• Produces newscasts and reports across all broadcast and digital platforms
• Chooses newscast content and w rites news storie s
• Serves as the ambassador for KXAN's In-Depth brand delivery, seeking out more perspectives, context and background that add to understanding of each report
• Reviews/edits scripts from reporters and other producers
• Times and adjusts live broadcasts from a control booth, leading communication with anchors, directors and field crews
• Writes reports for the website and social media posts
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Minimum two years
of experience in news operations
• Proficiency with AP ENPS, Adobe Premiere and Microsoft Teams preferred
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Flexibility to work any shift
