Job Summary/Description:

KWQC-TV6 in Davenport, IA is looking for a Digital Director for their News Dept. The Digital Director will spend the day looking at our digital platforms from a strategic point of view. The Digital Director will serve as a point person between all departments (news, sales, creative, etc.) and with Gray Digital Media, plus work to maintain high-quality content and service online.

Your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:

The director's primary goals are to develop and expand reach and engagement, develop an even more robust digital culture in the newsroom, manage content sharing between other Gray stations and KWQC, and, most of all, serve our viewers online by finding new ways to engage them, serve them and give them information they need to make informed decisions.

An ideal candidate is a strong leader, mentor and strategist with experience in managing multiple projects. The Digital Director should be knowledgeable in streaming services as well. The Digital Director will be expected to work odd hours at times when breaking news, weather events, big community projects are happening.

Qualifications/Requirements:

A college degree in journalism broadcasting or related field. Experience is a plus. In lieu of a college degree, applicants with 2 or more years of experience in the broadcast or forecasting industry will be considered. Knowledge and experience with HTML and the capabilities of Web browsers is needed along with knowledge of Photoshop, Google drive and apps, etc. A strong candidate already knows how to write for web-based platforms and can work under intense deadlines.
