Job Description
KTLA liaison in our local communities to support non-profits, civic institutions and educational organizations. Promotes company goodwill through attendance, participation and leadership and offers recommendations to management regarding support for charities and community sponsorships. Responsible for producing public affairs programs and program content that addresses and reflects the needs of the community.
The Manager of Community Initiatives reports to KTLA's Creative Services Director. This position oversees the station's relationship to the greater community in Southern California and plays a key role in KTLA's mission to serve the local community. This person cultivates new partnerships and maintains existing relationships with key businesses clients and community organizations and develops programs and promotions that benefit everyone involved. The position includes the development of new sales opportunities through for profit/non-profit partnerships, as well as overseeing the efforts of KTLA's community affairs team in the following areas: on-air via Public Service Announcements and News integrations, online through outreach and social engagement, and in person at community events with the KTLA Street Team. This position also involves key relationships with KTLA's News and Sales department managers as part of a holistic strategy to advance station priorities.
REQUIREMENTS
College degree in Urban Affairs, Public Relations, Political Science, Communications, a related field or equivalent related experience. Must have a thorough understanding of community issues; well-developed contacts; ability to create and coordinate materials, personnel and equipment and knowledge of television production. Experience with sales and sponsorship opportunities recommended. Good oral and written skills to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts. Supervisory experience preferred.
