Job Description
KSNW in Wichita, Kansas is looking for a sports anchor/MMJ who has a passion for local, collegiate and professional sports. From local high school sports to NCAA tournament excitement, to telling the inspiring personal stories of athletes and coaches, this is a great opportunity to tell important stories. You must be a hard worker, ambitious and organized with a keen attention to detail. Must have strong social media engagement. Position requires reporting, anchoring, shooting, editing, producing and digital responsibilities. You'll join an experienced and knowledgeable sports and management team that is committed to growing and developing our coverage on air and online.

We are looking for someone to be an active member of the Wichita community and engage in the local sports environment, excelling with our high school and college coverage. The right candidate will have a strong knowledge of sports and be willing to develop their knowledge of our community. Wichita is a hidden gem and a great place to develop your skills reporting on Wichita State, University of Kansas, Kansas State, KC Chiefs, KC Royals and a multitude of local sports teams. Our community is filled with friendly people. Our housing is surprisingly affordable. You'll find great local eats and an up and coming arts and culture scene. Traffic is almost non-existent. Essential Duties
• Evaluate, develop and pitch sports story ideas that are relevant to the local community
• Gather and verify accurate information about sports events by interview, investigation, or observation for digital and newscast presentations
• Produce accurate, complete and compelling copy on deadline
• Build network of sources who supply information that allows the company to stay ahead of its competitors
• Present compelling, clear, creative and accurate live shots, on air and online
• Organize material, shoot and edit video, prioritize and write stories based on the details and information obtained
• Use various digital and social platforms to give updates and share stories and information with the public
• Review copy and correct errors in content, grammar and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines
• Discuss issues with producers and/or managers to establish priorities or positions
• Check reference materials such as files or public records to obtain relevant facts
• Revise work to meet editorial approval or to fit time requirements
• Ensure that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
• Interact with viewers/users on social media sites
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
• Play an active and visible role in the community

Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Fluency in English required -- Bilingual Spanish a plus
• Require two (2) years minimum experience as on-air reporter/anchor
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required
• Superior on-camera presence
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment
• Proficiency with research skills
• Excellent reading, writing, spelling, grammar and organizational skills
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Promote teamwork and maintain attitude of cooperation with all station personnel
• Flexibility to work any shift
• Operate newsroom computer systems, editing and camera equipment

WORK ENVIRONMENT/MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: High stress environment with deadline pressures. Travel will be required on a regular basis. Position requires the transport of equipment weighing up to 60 lbs. Position often requires work in extreme outdoor temperatures. A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
