KSDK 5 On Your Side, the NBC affiliate in St. Louis (Market 23) is looking for a dynamic, enterprising morning traffic reporter//multi-skilled journalist to join our signature morning show ''Today in St. Louis.'' Previous traffic experience is preferred, but MSJ's are encouraged to apply if they're willing to be trained. The successful candidate is a team player and newsroom leader with excellent communication skills and proven ability to skillfully ad lib in any live situation. This candidate must work skillfully with an ensemble morning broadcast team.

This candidate must have the ability to provide the latest traffic information during our morning newscast, ''Today in St. Louis.'' Candidate must be able to utilize our traffic system to report on breaking accidents, jams, and other traffic-related issues during the morning drive. This candidate will also report on traffic on all platforms as a multimedia journalist to inform viewers about traffic projects, construction, and traffic news stories that impact our audience. As a traffic multimedia journalist, traffic news will be the beat for the candidate. The candidate must be a strong, enterprising reporter with the ability to cultivate sources, interview, shoot, write, voice and edit compelling traffic stories. Candidate must be connected to the community, fully understand the market and connect with the audience on all platforms.

Broadcast skills are important and so is the ability to write and report for the web – quickly and clearly. Along with a resume and audition reel, you will be asked to send links to recent digital work.

Responsibilities:
• Provide multiple daily traffic reports as part of an ensemble morning show and report on important traffic local stories affecting the community
• Generate unique, compelling and innovative story/show ideas and content.
• Skilled at calmly handling live, breaking traffic situations and changing events in conversational manner with an ensemble team.
• Develop story ideas, cultivate traffic sources, write, shoot and edit enterprise traffic stories for on-air broadcasting that offer a unique traffic perspective.
• Excellent, creative presentation and writing skills a must.
• Write and post daily on all digital platforms.
• Strong social media skills, including an active presence on Twitter and Facebook for news gathering/disseminating and community engagement.
• Community and/or talent appearances.
• Perform other tasks as required

Requirements:
• Journalism or Mass Communication degree preferred and one to three years broadcasting experience
• Previous traffic reporting experience preferred but not mandatory
• Proven strength in on-camera delivery with the ability to ad-lib.
• Excellent writing, packaging, and live skills.
• Must be able to report in a broad range of styles, from field anchoring to studio touchscreen
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of ENPS and Edius, a plus.
• Knowledge of PowerPoint, a plus.
• Strong social media presence.
• Familiarity with St. Louis or a reason to relocate here will set your application apart.
