DIGITAL NEWS PRODUCER (P/T) - KPLC

Job Summary/Description:

KPLC seeks a part-time producer-digital news to join our innovative team of journalists. Successful candidate will write stories daily for digital platforms and work with manager to also collect video or turn stories for digital platforms as necessary. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for digital and reporting!

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:
- Writing stories
- Edit and post video to station website, mobile apps, and social media platforms
- Edit video, images, and interviews to match scripts for use in newscasts and on digital sites
- Shoot video with phone or camera as needed
- Respond to breaking news and urgent newsroom situation
- Upload raw video and still photos to the website
- Communicate with editorial staff to post information factually, fairly, and quickly to digital platforms
- Write copy for the web and newscasts
- Explore ways to increase visual content on the website and digital platforms
- Collaborate on story ideas with news team daily
- Answer phones, follow up on tips, and make beat calls

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Have excellent communication skills, and computer literate
- Must be able to work well under pressure with limited supervision and daily deadlines
- Drug screening required
