Job Summary/Description:

Dominant #1 station in east Texas has a rare opportunity. KLTV- KTRE in Tyler, TX is looking for a Content Producer. While the title ''Content Producer'' may be common in the TV news industry, the actual functions of this position are new and unique. This Content Producer will be assigned and responsible for a small group of Content Gathers(MMJs) who work in the field. The role of the Content Producer will be to communicate and manage the raw material being sent back to the newsroom by Content Gatherers. The Content Producer then decides which platforms (TV, digital, streaming live channel, or social media) the material would work best and what the format should be. Ultimately, the Content Producer then either assigns or creates that material for immediate publishing on the different platforms. KLTV is breaking free from some dated protocols: the PKG is no longer treated as the staple of the field reporter's day, and our days aren't spent operating under traditional 6pm news deadlines. This position will generally work as a Content Producer Monday-Friday.

Qualifications/Requirements:

College degree in Journalism, Digital Journalism or similar. Two years prior experience in a commercial television news environment or digital news outlet is preferred. Assignment Editor and/or producing experience is a plus. This is generally not an entry level position. Advanced computer skills, familiarity with html and common tools used in social media management. Must have strong writing, organizational skills and excellent communication skills. Must be able to work under deadline pressures.
Other qualifications:
- Excellent news judgment; strong writing and editing skills
- Knowledge of AP Style
- Experience planning editorial and social content
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Ability to manage multiple news stories and work under deadline in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of Photoshop is a plus
- Knowledge of copyright laws and media ethics
