KCRG-TV9 is the ABC affiliate based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with bureaus in Dubuque and Iowa City covering all of Eastern Iowa. We are dedicated to being a part of our community and sharing the stories of the people of Eastern Iowa. We produce 6 hours of news everyday, as well as support a robust website and the largest social media audience in the market.

Job Summary/Description:

KCRG-TV9, the #1 news station covering Eastern Iowa, is looking for a newscast producer to develop and shape news coverage.

The successful candidate will be a strong writer with excellent news judgment who can be creative in presenting and conveying complex information to an audience. We have a strong commitment to local journalism and fostering a caring newsroom with work-life balance.

We have all the toys a producer would want: an HD studio, monitor array, touchscreen, a drone and 6 live units. There are also opportunities to take part in special projects for live sports broadcasts and live productions with our own production truck and crew.

Primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Manage completion and execution of newscast.
• Gather information from sources for use in newscasts.
• Write copy for TV and digital platforms.
• Coordinate production elements to showcase news content.
• Find and build video and graphical elements for use in newscasts.
• Work with reporting crews on format and style of news story presentation.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Degree in journalism, communications or related field.
• Previous experience in a newsroom a plus.
• Proven skills in news judgment and news writing.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
