Job Description
KBAK/KBFX is looking for a dynamic, hardworking Newscast Director to join its production team. We utilize a fully automated control room to produce seven and half hours of live news daily. Ideally, this person would have some experience directing live newscasts, but on-the-job training is provided. Television experience is a plus. This position is responsible for the coding, directing, the operating of studio and control room equipment used to produce news content. The Newscast Director is responsible for communicating and executing all technical aspects of live production and working as a team with the technical staff. A proactive attitude and schedule flexibility are necessary for this position. The right candidate should thrive on breaking news and continuous coverage as we strive to own the big story.

Responsibilities:
• Coding, directing, newscasts using Ignite automated production system
• Assist with pre-production and post-show production, including creation and organization of graphic material using Adobe Creative Suite and Chyron Prime system
• Operate robotic cameras, manage playback of ticker elements, and operate peripheral equipment during a newscast
• Maintain a strong level of daily communication and collaboration with producers, talent, and the production team
• Strive to maintain a high degree of production value with strong attention to production aesthetics, accuracy, and show pacing
• Participate in pre-show planning for special show segments, provide guidance and work with the crew on sets, lighting, and shot blocking
• Direct or act as crew for special studio and remote productions
• Clear concise communication and direction with management, producers, engineering staff, producers, and talent
• React in a calm and effective manner to fast-paced, 'live' television and multimedia environments
• Apply technical expertise and creative style to create interesting productions within accepted guidelines and standards

Requirements:
• A positive team player who possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience directing newscasts using ''Ignite'' or other automated production systems is preferred
• The ability to clearly give direction to the crew, while working under pressure
• Knowledge of production standards and equipment
• Experience working with Chyron Prime/Ross Expression is a plus
• The ability to read and write-strong typing and spelling skills are necessary
• A college degree is preferred
• Must be able to lift and position 40-pound lighting instruments
• Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record
