Job Description
KBAK/KBFX has an immediate opening for a creative News Producer! In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day production of our local television newscasts. This position will also work closely with the Executive Producer, Director, Content Manager, and Anchors on the newscast and its content. In this position, you will determine the content and flow of newscasts, work with management and on-air staff to generate and write stories and develop content for our website.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Solid news judgment
• Be a compelling and accurate writer
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
• Have the ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• The ability to execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts
• Flexibility and on-the-spot problem-solving abilities are a must
• Interpersonal skills and excellent collaboration skills
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment and interact with all personnel within the organization
• Knowledge of current events and industry trends
• Familiarity with the local market

Responsibilities
• Participate in editorial meetings, contributing ideas and innovative ways to present material
• The Producer is responsible for producing content for assigned shows and newscasts
• Produces assigned newscasts and news inserts making decisions on story lineup, video/audio elements, graphics, and timing to construct show
• Writes news stories for an assigned newscast; ensuring content is factually correct and written in a clear and concise conversational style

Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree in Journalism or related experience
• 1 Year of experience in a newsroom setting through a college course, internship, or professional experience
• Familiarity with newsroom systems, such as iNews a plus
