KARE 11, the TEGNA owned NBC affiliate in Minneapolis, MN is looking for an expert to cover weather in the 'bold north' on our weekend newscasts. Minnesota is a year-round weather state with frequent winter storms, extreme cold, severe weather in the spring and summer, and floods that can happen any time. This is a key on-air position to present weather on our television, social and digital platforms.
Responsibilities:
• The key responsibility is the ability to predict the future, in terms of what's going to happen with weather today, tonight, tomorrow, and next week.
• KARE 11 Meteorologists prepare and present multiple weather reports in a day, using all the resources available to us including graphics, video, live cameras, and user generated content.
• Meteorologists also interact with other members of the on-air staff to produce a superior viewing experience.
• The KARE 11 Weather department is very collaborative. An open approach to team forecasting, content creation, and communication across dayparts is a must.
• Responsibilities also include presenting weather on multiple platforms including KARE11.com, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram as well as live video on our OTT channel when conditions warrant.
• Produce content under the 'WeatherMinds' umbrella and attend WeatherMinds events, including school visits.

• Three to five years of experience as an On-Air Broadcast Meteorologist is required.
• Degree in Meteorology as well as a certification from the National Weather Service or the American Meteorological Society is preferred.
• The ability to produce and deliver smooth on-air weather reports several times each day is required.
• Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
• Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment. We do have an outdoor weather set that we use 365 days a year, pending severe weather.
• Physical Demands Set: Sedentary work: Involves sitting most of the time; walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
