Senior Software Engineer - Web

Job Description

Hulu's Web team is seeking a Lead Software Engineer with a passion for developing performant, consumer-facing experiences using modern web technologies. You will help us push the boundaries of what is possible on the client. You will work with a team of other developers alongside systems engineers, services engineers and project managers, in a fast-paced environment. You are highly proficient in Javascript, HTML and CSS and appreciate the details that make a user experience exceptional. You demonstrate enthusiasm for new technologies, languages, frameworks, and platforms.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Implement web interfaces and applications using Javascript (ES6+) HTML and CSS
• Work on a modern stack including React, NodeJS, Amazon Web Services
• Enforce code quality through unit and integration tests
• Distill product requirements into design and technical specifications
• Collaborate closely with other engineering, product, and marketing teams to define product requirements
• Partner with the UX design team to transform mock-ups into engaging, accessible web experiences
• Lead Projects including architecture, road map planning, work breakdown, and implementation.

WHAT TO BRING:
• 7+ years experience building web applications specifically using NodeJS, React, Redux, Next.js
• Experience working within a modern Javascript workflow through technologies such as: GitHub, CSS Preprocessors, Styled Components, Single Page Application frameworks and Module Bundlers (Webpack etc.)
• Proven track record of integrating with service APIs and/or SDKs
• Previously a technical lead on projects
• Solid understanding of web accessibility fundamentals
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• BS degree in computer science or equivalent work experience

NICE-TO-HAVES:
• Experience with streaming video, e-commerce, large data applications
• Authentication and authorization specific security experience, especially in eCommerce flows
• Experience developing & deploying applications with Progressive Web Application (PWA) technologies
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or interns
