The Good Housekeeping Institute is looking for a motivated, technically savvy, resourceful, creative, detail-oriented individual to join its team as a Test Engineer. This role involves testing a wide range of consumer products-including electronics, toys, home appliances, textiles, cars, smart gadgets, fitness devices, and cleaning and personal care tools.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in analytical processes and a passion for trying the latest, greatest products in the media and tech space. They will be excited to work with the scientists, engineers and other analysts in the iconic Good Housekeeping Institute, digging into product evaluation reports and supporting the creation of product roundups, SEO analysis, data and developing strategic insights in order to create best-in-class, science-backed content that will enable us to reach our ambitious commerce goals-and make it easier for our audience to discover top-tested products they'll love!

You will work with the team of experts at the Good Housekeeping Institute to analyze, write and produce info-packed and spotlessly accurate content around products, including ''best of the test'' roundups, product reviews, sales & deals coverage, and relevant consumer news. You are a self-starter and multi-tasking dynamo who can review products, gather rigorous data and write it up in a clear, compelling, and upbeat way for consumers. We're looking for someone with a mix of strong analytical skills coupled with technical knowhow.

What you'll do:
• Develop test procedures, execute lab performance and consumer tests, analyze data, and write reports in a timely fashion.
• Stay up-to-date on market trends by meeting with manufacturers, and attending press events and trade shows.
• Generate ideas for product tests and editorial content for Good Housekeeping magazine, goodhousekeeping.com, TV and other media.
• Write or contribute to a wide range of SEO-driven, commerce optimized digital posts each month.
• Research, request and return product test samples as needed.
• Evaluate safety, ease of use and performance on products submitted for the Good Housekeeping Seal, as well as assess validity of claims.
• Appear on camera for interviews and demonstrations.
• Collaborate with other GHI experts for various engineering tests, as well as other cross-department work with editors, marketers and sales.

Who you are:
• You hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and ideally have at least 2 years post-grad experience.
• You are experienced in product testing methodologies, test lab equipment, and data analysis.
• You have excellent writing skills.
• You have strong editing, reporting, and writing skills, particularly with ecommerce content, including sales and deals roundups
• You have a strategic service-journalism sensibility and think creatively when it comes to packaging
• You have a talent for digging up the coolest and most interesting products, as well as finding original reporting angles when it comes to consumer news
• You understand analytics, and can translate them into editorial action-familiarity with Google Analytics, Looker, Skimlinks, or similar reporting tools is key
• You are a whiz when it comes to SEO and ecommerce best practices
• You are a team player who is proactive, organized, enthusiastic, and deadline-oriented, and is willing to pitch in whenever needed
• Experience producing or hosting multimedia and/or knowledge of video and social platforms a plus
• Experience analyzing, interpreting, and visualizing data into clean, clear, and digestible dashboards and reports. Past background in developing automated reporting solutions and data products is ideal.
• Highly communicative and capable of building strong relationships with colleagues and explaining complex topics in simple and influential terms.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable juggling multiple projects simultaneously across a variety of platforms and topics. We work in a daily, fast-paced environment, where the ability to deliver quick info is essential.
• An inherently curious person that will work doggedly to connect the dots.
• A lover of media and interest in its ongoing evolution.
