Job Description
Hearst Television's Washington Bureau is announcing a new position with an expanded & primary coverage role from the White House. This person will be covering political, breaking news and big story issues for the 31 Hearst Television stations and other Hearst media platforms.

This person will join a DC team that provides 70+ lives and as-lives for Hearst stations daily.

Bureau reporters regularly conduct newsmaker interviews with national figures, as well as interviews with key Congressional members representing communities served by Hearst Television stations.

Job Responsibilities:
• Responsibilities include attending White House briefings, enterprising stories, multiple live shots and as-lives per day, developing and maintaining news sources, and newsmaker contacts to help break stories.
• This position works in tandem with other Hearst correspondents breaking down issues that impact our local markets, not just reporting the national headlines.
• This person will also work closely with various stations to customize content and provide multi-platform content.

Qualification Requirements:
• Qualified candidates should excel in live coverage, be strong writers, cool under deadlines, and work well both independently and in a team dynamic.
• Versatility is a must as reporters cover a wide range of topics and subjects, must be up-to-date on current events and able to react and respond to developing situations and continuing coverage.
• Ability to follow and dissect complex issues, identify key components and craft into a well-told story easy for viewers to understand. Must know how to develop and maintain news sources and information.

Experience Requirements:

Candidates should have at least 5 years on-air experience.
