The deputy editor will take stories from start to finish, working with Food Network talent and other contributors, then coordinate shoots with the photo department and planning layouts with designers. This editor should be an ideas machine who can dream up creative features for every section of the magazine (and occasionally for our sister publication, The Pioneer Woman Magazine). • Create long-term plans for FN talent features
• Build and maintain a group of reliable freelance contributors
• Build and maintain relationships with food-industry publicists, cookbook publishers, and other contacts
• Write engaging display copy
• Represent the brands on occasional ad sales calls

Who you are:
• You have 7 to 9 years of professional, post-grad experience writing and editing print and/or digital content for a consumer lifestyle or food or magazine
• Excellent at brainstorming and generating creative, relevant story ideas
• Pro at packaging and writing home, food, and lifestyle features
• Deep knowledge of home, food, and lifestyle trends
• Adept at working in a fast-paced environment and juggling multiple assignments
• Culinary experience not required, but a love of food definitely is
• Have a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or a related field
