Job Description
The Pioneer Woman Magazine, one of America's best-selling lifestyle magazines, is looking for an experienced lifestyle editor and packaging whiz to create fun, engaging features on kitchens, home trends, style, crafts, and more. The senior editor will contribute to both The Pioneer Woman Magazine and its sister publication, Food Network Magazine, taking stories from start to finish and working with the photo and design teams to coordinate shoots, plan layouts and guide stories through the production process. This editor should be able to generate creative story ideas and smart new ways to cover holidays and home, and should be able to fill our market and style pages with great finds. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or a related field and six to seven years of experience at a consumer lifestyle magazine.
What You Will Do:
• Produce, write and edit stories about home design, style, crafting and other lifestyle topics for The Pioneer Woman Magazine and occasionally our sister publication, Food Network Magazine
• Produce market/get-the-look pages for home and kitchen features in both magazines
• Build and maintain a group of reliable freelance contributors
• Build and maintain relationships with design-industry publicists, talent and other contacts
• Write engaging display copy
• Liaise with the art and photo departments
• Attend photo shoots as needed
• Represent the brands on occasional ad sales calls and at industry events
Who You are:
• 6 to 7 years of consumer food or lifestyle magazine experience
• Ability to lead brainstorming sessions and generate creative, relevant story ideas
• Proven ability to package home, lifestyle, and holiday features
• Deep knowledge of home, food, and lifestyle market and trends
• Ability to work on deadline in a fast-paced environment
• Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or a related field
