TITLE: Group Creative Director
DUTIES: Hearst Communications Inc. seeks Group Creative Director in New York, NY to direct visual branding, identity and style for the Hearst Lifestyle Group, Good Housekeeping magazine, overseeing all graphic executions for print, digital and video content as well as photoshoots, logo design, brand standards and implementation, and visual identities for content in the magazine, SIPs, and bookazines. Direct visual identity and style for goodhousekeeping.com. Work closely with Editor in Chief to establish and maintain the look and feel of the brand. Support single brand-focused creative directors in the Hearst Lifestyle Group. Coordinate digital designers, videographers, producers, and editors to translate the current design from print to web and from static content to moving images. Lead the redesign of goodhousekeeping.com. Responsible for reimagining the appearance of the website, including revising photography direction, changing fonts, and redesigning the template. Conceptualize and execute the design for native advertorials and brand extensions. Identify new integrated digital/print opportunities. Create dynamic content for web including animation and video. Redesign current print stories to work across all mediums using Hearst's MediaOS platform, Adobe Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Premiere Pro. Oversee the digital team's execution of large special packages and features online including scheduling shoots, planning complex social media strategies to coincide with the launch of the story going live, and using an SEO and mobile-first video strategy. Responsible for hiring of new talentp. Conceptualize and execute the design for main features, covers, and large, complex editorial packages, which rely heavily on visual packaging. Attend shoots and manage and train team to attend shoots, supporting the team in propping/styling photo shoots. Collaborate with senior team members in all hubs (fashion, beauty, photo) across Hearst to ensure each brand maintains a separate and unique identity. Represent the visual brand of the Hearst Lifestyle Group as an expert guest, speaker and judge at industry events
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Graphic Design, or a related field and seven (7) years progressively responsible experience in job offered or related occupation in the magazine publishing industry. Experience must include one (1) year of experience directing an art team; designing magazine covers and pages for special features; leading ideation and design of collateral for revenue-generation; working with brand extensions including branded merchandise, broadcast graphics, paint, or home goods products; designing books, bookazines, special interest publications, one-off publications, invitations, guides, maps, logos, circulation materials, letterhead, advertiser sell sheets, and emblems; collaborating with marketing teams to create advertorials; conceptualizing broadcast and video content; and utilizing design programs and print content management systems including InDesign, InCopy, Photoshop, Keynote, Adobe Design Suite, Woodwing, K4, MediaOS, rams, video, social media, digital content bundler, PowerPoint/custom show, and web technologies including HTML, Dreamweaver, and Flash. In the alternative, the employer will accept three (3) years of post-secondary education and one (1) year of experience in the field of publishing in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
