Your impact:

Hearst Magazines is seeking a Director of Post Production & Operations to join its editorial video team. The ideal candidate will have an extensive knowledge of the post-production process and strong experience with the editing and delivery process across various formats. The day-to-day tasks include but are not limited to creating and maintaining post workflows and tech specs, creating schedules, determining equipment needs, advising and creation of post budgets, hiring post staff/editors, researching emerging post technology, and managing a team.

Responsibilities:
• Lead strategic planning for the overall management of post-production in conjunction with several departments.
• Manage the day to day of on-staff post-production team and coordinate, hire and oversee freelancers and vendors across Hearst Magazines.
• Create and vet post-production budgets, timelines, and schedules to ensure all internal and external client deliverables stay on track, flagging timeline/resourcing concerns in a timely, cost-effective manner. This includes troubleshooting client technical & delivery questions.
• Oversee implementation of editing technologies for a remote editing environment, including troubleshooting and educating the staff and freelancers on best practices.
• Direct supervision and acting Post production supervisor for high profile original projects ranging from short-form to long-form content for OTT/Streaming, Broadcast, Cable Networks and other partners and supervise the final delivery of all associated assets (cue sheets, QT deliverables, project files, etc) observing partner's requirements are fully met.
• Oversee the maintenance of music licensing documentation contractually required by existing libraries, handling cue sheet generation, tracking and submission for 300+ users across magazines and Hearst TV.
• Act as liaison and post operations authority with IT to manage editing and design technology infrastructure, current needs and on-going support.
• Leading and establishing onboarding of new staff hires including access to equipment and resources, establishing training practices and proper implementation.
• Oversee the common project management database that the company uses, which lives on Airtable, constantly assessing, improving and ensuring the needs of the stakeholders are met.
• Act as liaison with the Production Management Department, as well as responsible for rate negotiation for freelance post-production personnel while maintaining internal process and documentation.
• Lead the Signiant Media shuttle distro system, implementing and supervising maintenance and functionality of said FTP/distro system in conjunction with existing transfer methods such as Dropbox, Aspera, etc.
• Management of asset management workflows throughout the video department for all Hearst Magazines video teams. Server maintenance and operations, project/asset integrity and design of standard operating procedures for end-users, implementation of new and improved workflows involving the storage. servers, MAM and archive process both on-site and cloud-based environments within different locations/time zones.
• Departmental liaison between Post-production and Counsel/Legal to ensure standards and practices (S&P) and contractual terms are met.

Qualifications:
• 7+ Years in an agency, production company or studio environment
• 3+ Years of experience in a Post-Production management role
• Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Non-Linear Editing Systems and Airtable
• Must be able to problem solve under high-pressure situations
• Background in training and managing teams of freelance editors and post production professionals
• Experience working with a wide variety of formats (commercials, short/long form, documentary, etc.)
• Demonstrable history of transforming and maintaining post systems and workflows
• A deep understanding of all areas of post-production including editing, color grading, VFX, Sound Editing and more
• Must have an extensive understanding of production and post-production workflows

The base salary for this role is between $117,000 and $130,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
