We're growing a game-changing modern content technology stack - built from the ground up to give our users, editors, and advertisers tools that enable them to tell amazing stories.

Solve problems and support the DevOps Engineers as we grow our new platform.

You're invited to bring your experience across the full stack, proficiency in AWS + Kubernetes to:
• Solve problems
• Ease the burden of manual tasks
• Deploy code
• Manage operations
• Nurture other DevOps Engineers grow their skillsets and yours

The Team

You'll join a diverse, supportive community of engineers who have created a modern content technology stack. We're using modern web technologies, like Python and Rust to build an open, service-oriented platform driven by APIs. Our goal is to craft simple, elegant solutions to complex technological and product problems. We're very proud of our platform and think you will be, too!

What You'll Do
• Manage a team of DevOps Engineers, helping them grow and deliver fabulous products to keep evolving Media Platforms.
• Help steer architectural decisions while continuing to write code daily.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure via automation
• Develop applications that help software engineers do their jobs at a faster pace with less overhead
• Work closely with engineering teams to architect and implement applications in a secure and highly available manner.
• Continued support and uptime of an API-driven, SOA-powered publishing platform/CMS and high-traffic public websites.
• Troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues in a complex environment
• Provide 24/7 on-call support on a rotating basis

Hoping You'll Bring
• Experience deploying and supporting high traffic, scalable web applications/services
• Experience working within a highly functional DevOps environment and AWS environment, including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Terraform, Cloudformation, or similar
• Creating automation using AWS SDKs in Python, Ruby, or similar
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration
• Creating and managing Kubernetes clusters in a production environment
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment best practices and technologies (Jenkins, Travis, GitHub Actions, etc.)

• An effective communicator who handles stressful situations with ease and tact
• Team player who wants to both teach others and learn from others
• Ability to troubleshoot and debug production issues under pressure
• Experience with administering relational databases in a production environment, experience with PostgreSQL a plus
• Experience architecting and supporting highly available and highly scalable infrastructure
• Experience developing software applications in Python or another programming language, using TDD methodologies a plus
• Self-starter who is excited about technology and is always looking to automate the many manual parts of the software development life cycle
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science
