Job Description
Your impact:

The Hearst Magazines Enthusiast Group is looking for a gear-obsessed, data-motivated associate editor to join our growing Expert Reviews team. In this exciting role, you will update, write, and edit product reviews and guides for Popular Mechanics, Runner's World, and Bicycling. This position requires a passion for product journalism, search-engine optimization, and affiliate-commerce best practices. The ideal candidate has one to two years of relevant experience, and brings with them an ambition to learn from our senior editors and grow with our team. This person needs to be obsessed with consumer products and be ready to research and edit reviews across product categories, including tech, tools, gaming, running shoes, cycling gear, appliances, fitness equipment, home goods, and more.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of post-grad experience writing and/or editing product reviews for an online media company or publisher. S/he needs to be able to discern useful, credible review copy from marketing fluff. Our audience is highly capable. This position calls for someone who will be confident informing them, inspiring them, empowering them, equipping them, and connecting them with the tools, gear, accessories, and resources they need.

This position is based in Hearst's Enthusiast Group headquarters in Easton, PA.

Please note: For consideration, resumes must be submitted in PDF format with a cover letter, salary requirements, and a link to a portfolio of work.

What you'll do:

• Edit and assign content across a range of product categories, prioritizing authenticity while guided by search and commerce best practices
• Support search and commerce goals with a flexible mindset and the ability to change course quickly

• Seek out and develop a network of product experts who can produce product reviews quickly and credibly based on their experience and sound product journalism
• Monitor site comments and respond to user questions regarding Expert Review product recommendations

Who you are:
• 1 to 2 years post-grad experience editing or writing for a digital consumer publication focused on product reviews or similar content
• Expertise or a passion for one or more of our key categories is preferred
• A flexible mindset: We pivot and reprioritize quickly
• Basic understanding of SEO and affiliate-commerce best practices
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced digital environment
• Strong copywriter, capable of writing engaging, useful copy
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
• Must be able to collaborate and foster positive relationships with colleagues
