Your Impact:

Hearst Magazines is seeking an Associate Director of Post Production & Operations, West Coast. Tasks include but are not limited to creating and maintaining post workflows and tech specs, creating schedules, determining equipment needs, advising and creating post budgets, hiring post staff/editors, and researching emerging post technology. This person will be responsible for operations and managerial duties, including:
• Acting as liaison and post operations authority with IT and east cost senior director of post to manage editing and design technology infrastructure, current needs and on-going support
• Leading and establishing onboarding of new staff hires, including access to equipment and resources and establishing training practices and proper implementation
• Overseeing the common project management database that the company uses, which lives on Airtable, and constantly assessing, improving and ensuring the needs of the stakeholders are met
• Acting as liaison with the Production Management Department, as well as being responsible for rate negotiation for freelance post-production personnel while maintaining internal process and documentation
• Managing asset management workflows throughout the video department for west coast video teams. Server maintenance and operations, project/asset integrity and design of standard operating procedures for end-users, and implementation of new and improved workflows
• Authoring new production and post-production technical specification guidelines, improvement of existing series style guides and establishing end-user workflows for cross-platform brand consistency, non-linear editing guidelines and delivery specifications

Responsibilities:
• Lead strategic planning for the overall management of post-production in conjunction with other departments for West Coast team.
• Manage the day to day of on-staff post-production team with post supervisor and coordinate, hire and oversee freelancers and vendors across Hearst Magazines West.
• Create and vet post-production budgets, timelines, and schedules to ensure all internal and external client deliverables stay on track, flagging timeline/resourcing concerns in a timely, cost-effective manner.
• Troubleshoot client technical & delivery questions.
• Oversee implementation of editing technologies for a remote editing environment, including troubleshooting and educating the staff and freelancers on best practices.
• Communicate proactively with the production and editorial video department to understand and implement solutions for current and future needs.
• Direct supervision and acting post production supervision for high profile original projects.
• Oversee the maintenance of music licensing documentation contractually required by existing libraries, handling cue sheet generation, tracking and submission for 150+ million users across Hearst Magazines and Hearst TV.
• Serve as an educator on video best practices and post production needs to members of editorial and other departments across Hearst Communications, Inc.

Qualifications:
• 7+ Years in an agency, production company or studio environment
• Background in training and managing teams of freelance editors and post production professionals
• Experience working with a wide variety of formats (commercials, short/long form, documentary, etc.)
• Demonstrable history of transforming and maintaining post systems and workflows

The base salary for this role is between $85,000 and $102,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future
