Job Description
Your impact:

House Beautiful is seeking a talented Assistant Market Editor with a superb eye. This editor, working with the style director and special projects director, will contribute to the brand's home-design coverage by sourcing the best new products in various categories-furniture, fabrics, tabletop, kitchen, bath, and more-to feature in multiple front-of-book columns within each issue and on Housebeautiful.com. Trade show attendance both in New York City and out-of-town may be required, as will meetings with manufacturer representatives in and out of the office (and virtually). This editor will bring a strong visual sense and point of view to both the pages of the magazine and to articles on its website. One to two years' experience at a magazine is essential, with a deep concentration and focus on the home design/shelter category. Above all, creativity and enthusiasm are paramount for this role.

For consideration, resumes must be submitted in PDF format with a cover letter and a link to a portfolio of work.

What you'll do:
• Conduct research for our front-of-book market columns, which will include helping our directors source the best brands and products to share with our readers
• Help produce FOB columns, which will involve calling in products from manufacturers; setting up and breaking down sets for studio and sometimes on-location photo shoots; and coordinating product returns after these shoots
• Gather crediting information from our vendors and partners for in-book resource listings
• Write both for the print magazine (FOB columns and occasional market features) and for housebeautiful.com (market news stories, product roundups, SEO updates, etc.)
• Attend meetings with industry representatives and attend trade shows to seek out the latest trends and products that we should be covering
• Assist the style director and special projects director with day to day operations

Who you are:
• 1 to 2 years of postgrad experience at a shelter magazine or media-based design brand (or equivalent) experience is essential, along with a knowledge of and passion for the world of interior design
• Interest in and experience with styling photo shoots is preferred
• A strong visual sense and a sense of style-a good eye for what the readers of House Beautiful will want to see in our pages
• Sharp writing skills
• A willingness to learn, and an enthusiasm to roll up your sleeves and help the team!
