Your impact:

The Hearst Food Group is looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented, dynamic assistant food editor in the test kitchen with strong fundamental cooking skills and an interest in creating delicious food for the American home cook. This is an opportunity to work and learn in a collaborative and fast-paced environment with the team that produces recipes for Good Housekeeping, Woman's Day, Women's Health, Prevention, and Country Living, as well as other Hearst titles. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, productive team player with both the ability to juggle a variety of tasks under deadline and a keen interest in current consumer trends in food and cooking.

What you'll do:
• Manage kitchen inventory by maintaining equipment and an organized pantry, placing orders and shopping for ingredients required for recipe testing, development, and photo shoots.
• Cross-test recipes and take detailed notes
• Develop recipes
• Wash dishes and keep test kitchen pantry and cabinets organized
• Assist on still and video shoots as necessary
• Write and edit recipes
• Input recipes into CMS with an eye toward detail and accuracy
• Research and pitch recipes and food stories
• Food-style test kitchen images
• Assist food director and future test-kitchen staff with expenses and scheduling

Who you are:
• You have a culinary degree (or an incredible reason why we should overlook not having one)
or experience in a professional kitchen
• A year of professional experience testing and developing recipes, especially in a test kitchen setting or restaurant
• Ability to shift gears quickly in a daily web/print publishing environment, and pitch in on whatever needs to get done
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Bachelor's degree is highly desirable
• Relevant experience in a consumer magazine setting or brand is a major plus
