Artist Relations Manager

Job Description

Salary Range $60,000-$65,000 (Higher compensation can be considered for more experienced candidates)

May be Remote but New York or LA is preferred About HeadCount

HeadCount is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that promotes participation in democracy through music, culture, and digital media. Since 2004 the organization has registered one-million voters and worked with a long list of musicians and partners including Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Camila Cabello, Dave Matthews Band, JAY-Z, Beyoncé, March for Our Lives, RuPaul’s DragCon, MTV, and Dead & Company. With 40,000 volunteers, street teams in most major U.S. cities, and a presence at more than 1,000 events each year, HeadCount ranks as one of the most active grassroots civic participation organizations in the United States. Following COVID-19 restrictions, the organization quickly pivoted to an all-digital approach that led to innovation and online initiatives to fill the needs of the public in using their voices in democracy.

The Artist Relations Manager is responsible for establishing, supporting and growing relationships with artists specifically in Rhythmic/Hip-Hop/R&B, Pop, or EDM genres.

Duties

● Direct connection to managers and talent

● Strong ties to historically marginalized communities

● Direct connection to managers and talent

● Responsible for the recruitment and relationship management. for artists specifically in Rhythmic and dance genres

● Will work with the Director of Artist Relations to improve systems for talent recruitment andrelationship management

● Ideal candidate knows what an artist (and their team) needs in any situation

● Understands nuance and has the ability to be professional or casual depending on the situation

● Once safe to do so, will travel to shows andnetwork work backstage and front-of-house with talent and teams for appearances and content capture

Requirements

· 3+ years of experience in talent facing, music industry specifically in Rhythmic/Hip-Hop/R&B, Pop, or EDM genres

· Understands the importance of nonpartisanship

· Excellent written and verbal communicator, a people person who loves establishing connection, comfortable with a fast-paced work environment with a variety of tasks

· Always warm and inviting/outstanding customer service

· Can easily pivot from internal, organizational work to external, recruitment work

· Enthusiastically participates in creative sessions and is always willing to think outside the box

· Must be willing to travel once live music comes back

Bonus Points if you…

● Have previously worked on grassroots organizing, or non-profits

● Understanding of bi-partisan and voter laws

● Speak Spanish
