The Job
The 'Applications and Platform Support' (APS) team delivers operational support focusing on availability, reliability and performance for mission critical applications, platforms and data delivery pipelines across WarnerMedia. These applications are hosted on-premises as well as on the cloud. APS team partners with various business units to enable the services required to deliver WarnerMedia's premium content to domestic and global platforms as well as third party affiliates. Currently WarnerMedia is launching their streaming platform, HBO Max across the globe, starting with LATAM and EMEA regions. We are looking for an Application Operations Engineer who is a hands-on operations expert, will be responsible for the day to day operations of the media supply chain, ensuring the highest levels of performance, availability, security and functionality of the applications. This person also will be responsible to ensure the timely delivery of WarnerMedia assets to HBOMax platform primarily focusing international customers. This person will work with technology and infrastructure teams to lead incident and problem management efforts. The ideal candidate will be a person with an operations mindset who is sharp and eager to learn new media related technology and is able to work with a 24x7 support team

The Day-to-Day
• Be part of a 24*7 operations team for an integrated business and media systems portfolio of on-prem and cloud hosted applications
• Monitor media workflows for the timely delivery of content to endpoints
• Research and identify content delivery related issues across the media supply chain
• Run the incident and problem management efforts of the team
• Participate in domestic and international new launch content ramp up exercises
• Work with domestic and international content operations and engineering teams to resolve application and content delivery related issues
• Act as an escalation point for all support issues and lead the effort to resolve and reconcile those events.
• Understand Warner Media business priorities in dealing with incidents and service requests
• Enhance, maintain and improve the daily/weekly/monthly operations reports.

The Essentials
• 3+ years of experience in technology operations
• ITIL/ITSM/DevOps, software engineering, platform technology and cloud experience.
• Proven problem-solving skills; ability to identify the root cause of an operational issue and suggest creative solutions.
• 3+ years of experience in supporting applications hosted on AWS
• 3+ years of experience in writing and reviewing code in Java or python
• Excellent process orientation, time sensitivity and goal orientation.
• Excellent customer focus and awareness of the importance of the customer in a service organization
• Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills.
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple environments
• Provide on-call support and remote troubleshooting on a regular basis
• Work off-hours occasionally, sometimes on short notice
• Four-year college degree with Computer Science major or minor

Nice to have
• Understanding of media encoding and streaming technologies
• Exposure to media storage technologies like Aspera
• Exposure to database technologies – Oracle/SQL/MySQL/Mongo
• Good understanding of AWS Data services like S3, Direct Connect
• Exposure to APM monitoring tools like AppDynamics, DataDog
• Written and spoken language skills on Spanish and/or European languages along with English
