Summary of Position
The Content Clearance Administrator is responsible for clearance on a full slate of HBO, HBO Max, and T-networks live action productions and animated productions. Conducts research and analysis of scripts and additional requests to determine whether names, places, artwork, signage, props, etc. are available for use in programming. In addition, this position engages in fact-checking and annotating fact-based/docudrama programming in collaboration with the project attorneys, as necessary. Prepares privileged memorandum advising production personnel, production attorneys, and executives on clearance and related issues. In conjunction with the project attorney, offers guidance to productions on licensing third party material as necessary. In addition, this candidate will oversee and manage clearance for animated programming which requires the above described clearance procedures as well as reviewing cuts and identifying clearance concerns on camera. Our ideal candidate is a team player who is well organized, detail-oriented, and works well under time constraints, and can prioritize assignments accordingly. This position requires familiarity with defamation law to assist with the clearances for the fact-based programming. Moreover, this position will aid in the training and development of the Senior Content Clearance Administrator and the Content Clearance Administrator.
The Essentials
• 5+ years of experience in production and script clearance
• BA/BS degree preferred
• Ability to read and analyze scripts for both live action and animated programming for potential legal issues
• Ability to review cuts for animated programming and identify potential issues on camera
• Ability to research script elements using available resources and analyze the results to determine if use is clearable
• Familiarity with defamation law
• Ability to assist with fact-checking and script annotation for fact-based/docudrama programming
• Ability to work in a deadline driven environment
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to manage and train other content clearance administrators
• Strong attention to detail
• Professional written and verbal communication
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Must understand basic intellectual property concepts (copyright/trademark)
• Must have the ability to organize and handle multiple tasks
• Must have excellent follow-through
• Must be flexible and able to work hours subject to production needs
• Knowledge of Saegis, LexisNexis, and Hoovers preferred
