The Job

The HBO Max Content Research team is looking for a Sr. Analyst, Content Research. Based in Los Angeles, the Analyst will work with multiple teams throughout the organization, including content development, and programming. This role requires an individual that is a strong collaborator and team player. We're looking for someone that thrives in a collaborative environment and respects, values & understands the content creation business. This role will work across multiple key content genres (unscripted, international, comedy, adult animation, drama, movies). We're looking for a research professional with direct content research experience. This role requires someone that is stakeholder/client focused, an exceptionally strong team player and relationship focused (establishing, building, maintaining) across multiple internal and external teams. The Sr. Analyst, Content Research will report to the Manager, Content Research.

The Daily
• Passionately advocate for HBO Max content development & programming teams and their respective initiatives/priorities
• Establish, build, and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders/business partners across content development, and programming
• Contribute to various types of content testing - pilot testing, episode testing, title testing, concept testing, content optimization, end of season post mortems, greenlight insights, renewal assessments and multiple other projects
• Contribute to content testing for HBO Max programming across multiple genres (unscripted, international, family/live action, comedy, drama
• Contribute to various HBO Max show decks & presentations (including discovering insights/trends as applicable)
• Contribute to various special projects/studies for content development and programming teams (among other teams)
• Contribute to various landscape studies across multiple genres (unscripted, family/live action, international, streaming animated)
• Fulfill various ad-hoc requests from HBO Max development & programming teams
• Ability to become an expert in HBO Max (and competitive SVOD) health in terms of programming expectations, needs, strengths, challenges, and opportunities within a competitive landscape
• Work with various content testing vendors and hold them accountable for agreed upon deliverables
• Work with trends vendors to uncover key insights to share with HBO Max stakeholders (development, programming)
• Collaborate with various internal research teams throughout the organization (FanLab, TNets, WB Studio, theatrical, kids/young adult, social)
• Work with HBO Max Content Research team interns

The Essentials
• 5+ years of direct and ongoing content research experience at a streaming platform, studio/production company, content testing vendor, broadcast network or cable network is required
• 2 years collaborating directly with content creators & creative teams is required
• A college graduate with a 4-year degree is required
• Exceptional communication skills (presenting/verbal, written, listening) are required
• Knowledge of the content creation business is required
• Experience and comfort regularly communicating and collaborating with content development and programming teams is required
• Experience on the vendor side is valued
• Knowledge of US programming landscape (streaming, cable, broadcast) is required; must be a content consumption enthusiast
• International content experience is valued
• Exceptional organizational, prioritization and time management skills are required
• Extremely detail oriented with a strong focus on accuracy is required
• Operational knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint is required (including building presentations from scratch)
