Software Engineer II - HBO Max

The Job

We are the team responsible for ensuring the availability and reliability of the multitude of devices located in our datacenters across the globe, as well as the internal tools and services that support them. Such devices and services are critical to the success of HBO Max by providing our developers and QA teams with access to devices for testing and ensuring the reliability of our CI/CD pipelines.

As a software engineer on the datacenter team, you'll be working closely with network engineers, network technicians, IT personnel, and other teams within the organization to streamline the way our engineers utilize our fleet of devices to deliver new features for HBO Max. You'll solve unique problems stemming from the need to support non-traditional device types typically not found in most datacenters.

The Daily
• Develop and maintain tools and services to support the management and control of on-prem devices within our datacenters.
• Support the real-time monitoring of devices and services using Prometheus, Grafana, and various AWS services.
• Develop automation to reduce or eliminate manual failure intervention in the datacenters.

The Essentials
• BS degree in Computer Science or a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience
• 2+ years of professional software development experience using languages such as Golang, Python, Javascript and Typescript
• Experience with AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, RDS, and SQS
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, and object modeling
• Strong test-focused development habits

The Nice To Haves
• Strong experience with Golang and developing RESTful APIs
• Experience configuring and deploying Docker containers, both locally and in the cloud (experience with Kubernetes and/or Docker Swarm is a plus)
• Experience with Infrastructure-As-Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
• Experience with device management protocols such as SNMP, NetConf, and StatsD
