WarnerMedia seeks a Sr. People Partner to support the rollout of its highly-anticipated streaming service, HBO Max.

The People Partner team is at the center of the HR function. People Partners are connected to business units (BU) and are expected to work closely with the APAC Talent Leader for HBO Max, the business, and the APAC People Partner team to understand a BU's talent strategy, initiatives and/or challenges. The People Partner then partners with the People Solutions team and COEs to strategize and activate solutions that deliver high impact.

Initially, the Sr. People Partner will be focused on building, launching and scaling the Direct-to-Consumer team in Japan by leading a variety of ramp-up activities and initiatives, such as organization design, talent planning, on-boarding and implementation of various HR programs and processes.

The Daily ​Responsibilities:
• Supports one or multiple teams/functions.
• Supervises the People Partner, HBO Max Japan.
• Creates and activates the BU implementation strategy for core HR/talent programs.
• Provides day to day HR support for the Japan HBO Max/DTC employee population.
• Develops strong working relationships with local and global stakeholders including Talent ​ Leads, Employee Services, COE partners, and Business Manager(s).
• Supports the business unit to manage and resolve HR issues including, but not limited to, performance management, conflict management, coaching, development, employee relations, compensation, internal mobility, staff retention, talent acquisition, workforce planning, headcount and position management, talent and team development and compliance, working closely with Talent Leaders, People Solutions, COEs, HRS, ER and Legal as required.
• Works closely with the Talent Leader to execute and implement HR-related initiatives such as, organization design & integration, talent management, compensation planning, employee development, succession planning, and performance management.
• Provides advice, coaching, and counselling to proactively create/maintain an inclusive, respectful, and safe work environment.
• Ensures a good understanding of the financial drivers of the business and competitive market activity in order to ensure HR is well placed to provide commercial advice and respond to current and future business and market challenges.
• Champions the ''Ways we Work'' and local purpose in all aspects of team engagement.
• Fosters a positive and high achieving culture that embraces continual change and encourages creative risk-taking that achieves goals.
• Keeps abreast of HR trends/practices, legislation and requirements in Japan to effectively manage and communicate to employees and managers.

• Customizes Global and/or Regional initiatives as necessary and appropriate to meet the unique needs of the business and Japan culture/market.
• Manage special projects, as assigned to ensure value add.

Work Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree within a related field, preferred
• 10+ years' experience in HR or related client-focused role
• Experience in supporting or scaling consumer tech and or/direct-to-consumer businesses strongly preferred
• Experience to work for multinational company and complex global matrix organization preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:
• Ability to manage change and work with ambiguity using a wide range of HR, critical thinking, and business advisory skills
• Experience leading and developing direct reports a plus
• Collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence others into action and to think creatively about solutions
• Demonstrated experience working in a matrixed structure
