Manager, HBO Content Scheduling Strategy & Planning
OVERALL SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director, HBO Content Scheduling Strategy & Planning, this position is responsible for crafting original programming scheduling strategies for the linear channels and for collaborating with the Editorial team in the curation of all HBO content on HBO MAX, with a focus on the Content team's efforts to amplify diverse voices in the programming. The Manager screens content and aggregates all available inputs from Marketing and Research to design programming strategies that are presented across executive levels and ultimately implemented on the linear service. This role is heavily involved in the evolving strategy and execution of content metadata tagging as it pertains to the personalization of HBO MAX. Additionally, the Manager role schedules an HBO linear channel and oversees original programming scheduling changes across HBO Main channel and all HBO plex channels in collaboration with Media Relations and Promo Planning teams.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Create original programming scheduling plans and socialize strategies across internal teams on a quarterly basis.
• Screen content and ideate HBO MAX collection recommendations for priority HBO original programming.
• Assist with ongoing and ad hoc editorial curation requests including community endeavor curations and tagging.
• Work in partnership with the Director on content metadata tagging as it pertains to the personalization of HBO MAX, as well as executing the current tagging strategy.
• Schedule a linear channel (HBO 2).
• Oversee frequent original programming scheduling changes across HBO Main Channel and all HBO plex channels.
• Work closely with Promo Planning team in maintaining proper break structures and lengths on HBO Main and HBO2.
• Utilize research data and work closely with the inventory management team to optimize use of return original programming in stunting on the linear channels.
• Collaborate with team managers to ensure scheduling workflows are updated and streamlined on an ongoing basis.
REQUIREMENTS:
• College Degree, preferably in Television, Film, New Media and/or Business.
• 5+ years Programming/Scheduling
• Experience with Television Research preferred
• Proficiency with Google Suite, MS Office, and Adobe Acrobat with an emphasis on PowerPoint and equivalent skills in creating compelling presentations
• Proficiency / knowledge of Air Table preferred
• Strong organization and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment which may require flexible or off-hour work.
• Ability to multitask while maintaining strict attention to detail.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Talent for mastering proprietary applications.
• Keen sense of pop culture, media landscape and competitive environment.
• Extensive Film/TV knowledge.
