The Team

The Business Operations team builds connective tissue for HBO Max, empowering our cross-functional partners with the tools, processes, and structure they need to do their best work. On the daily, we partner across all teams in the organization to define processes, drive efficiency and create visibility. We are versatile, flexible, and diplomatic, proactively identifying opportunities to support our cross-functional partners by improving BAU operations and tackling new strategic initiatives in an ever-evolving environment.

The Role

The Business Operations Manager (Media Ops) will focus on bringing sound process development and project management to the HBO Max media operations team. You will identify opportunity, adeptly navigate ambiguity and ever-evolving targets, build strong cross-functional bridges between teams, and operationalize repeatable, scalable processes that serve the needs of our cross functional partners and the business as a whole. You are diplomatic, tactical, kind, enthusiastic in the face of challenges and someone who is detail-oriented while consistently keeping the bigger picture in mind. You are truly collaborative in nature and find fulfillment in making the business better for everyone.

The Daily

Biz Ops' roles and scope will evolve as the business does - adaptability and a wholehearted willingness to pivot and take on whatever is needed is essential.
• Report to the Director who oversees all media operations activities for HBO Max
• Oversees daily cross-functional long-form content readiness operations from end-to-end
• Maintain a holistic view of the end-to-end content readiness space, offering an informed business perspective on ad-hoc use cases
• Help establish repeatable, scalable processes with stakeholders. Develop and drive communications plans to keep all key stakeholders aware of critical program decisions
• Support our cross-functional partners and your fellow Biz Ops team members through new initiatives with clear, strategic planning, process design, and project management
• Develop strong, trusted relationships to ensure operational efficiency across the board
• Build, maintain, and optimize forms, reports, trackers and dashboards and help onboard our stakeholders with new tools to enable scalable and repeatable operations
• Be a champion for sensible, effective processes. Consistently monitor and enhance our current practices including process, tools, and communications plans
• Oversees the long-form process with an ownership mindset, someone who is able to nimbly navigate the everyday changes of a start-up environment

The Essentials
• 3-5 years of experience in business operations or 2-3 years as management consultant
• Strong knowledge of project management processes for governance and tracking
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, G-Suite, Smartsheet, Asana/Jira/Monday and other similar tools used in day-to-day operations
• Constantly seeks to proactively evolve process complexities and finds excitement in new ways of work
• Thrives in ambiguous, rapidly-evolving environments,constantly, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement; start-up experience a plus
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, including negotiation and coalition building with cross-functional stakeholders
• Familiarity with streaming services and/or media, production, digital supply chain, media operations
• Self-motivated, accountable, and kind
