The Job
The Head of Finance is in charge of managing and coordinating the HBO Local Original Production budgets from a finance perspective. The role leads a team and as Finance Business Partner, this role will understand business drivers and oversee timely and comprehensive cash flow and OPEX budgeting. The position will collaborate with local Original Production departments to oversee 3rd party production companies, producers, and accountants.
The Daily
• Working with the local production team, supported by direct reports; prepare Budget and Long-Range-Plan from a cash flow and OPEX perspective across EMEA.
• Lead month-end and forecast processes from a financial perspective across EMEA, with monthly, quarterly, yearly reporting and variance analysis.
• Integral part of the approval process; working closely together with the LOP team; highlighting financial risks and/or budget implications to the HoF Programming, the Head of LOP and to the CFO.
• Oversee timely and comprehensive budgeting and cost reporting throughout the life cycle of a production to ensure proper financial management.
• Analyze production budgets from overall spend to individual rates; monitor the process of tax subsidy application in the relevant countries.
• Track any applicable production incentives and tax receivables and work closely and collaboratively with HBO teams incl. legal, tax, accounting, and content planning.
• Align with the different stakeholders across the business in regards of LOPs Syndication deals
• Work alongside the GBS (Accounting) and DSR teams to ensure accounting alignment with the business activity; support preparation of local statutory filings and tax incentive applications
The Essentials
• Relevant experience in a similar position and in an international environment
• Understanding and experience in the production industry in EMEA
• Experience of managing and coordinating a forecast and budget process.
• Combine meticulous attention to detail with the ability to see the broader, strategic picture.
• Proven ability to prioritize activities and work efficiently to meet deadlines.
• Highly computer literate, with excellent modelling skills and experience in working with accounting/financial systems (e.g. Peoplesoft, Hyperion, Rights management systems etc.)
• Exceptional ability in understanding complex accounting structures and strong analytical expertise.
• Organizational ability, capability to work in a matrix environment.
• Fluency in English - second language is a plus.
