The Job

The Director of Non-Fiction Awards, WarnerMedia position will have oversight of all awards strategy for non-fiction original programming across HBO, HBO Max, TNT, TBS and TruTV, reporting to the Vice President, Awards, HBO, HBO Max, TBS, TNT and TruTV. The Director will provide oversight and day-to-day management of awards efforts for all non-fiction original programming through all phases of the awards process – pre-entry through post-ceremony – for approximately 50 awards per year of varying profiles (including, but not limited, to the Oscars, Emmys, News & Documentary Emmys, Sports Emmys, DGA, PGA, WGA, IDA, Gotham, Cinema Eye Honors, Film Independent Spirit, Peabodys, Critics Choice - among others.).

This person will formulate an integrated awards strategy for these businesses, working with the company's creative and production partners to create fully integrated and well-rounded multimedia award campaigns for the group's non-fiction programming.

The Daily
• Develops and guides the implementation of a comprehensive and strategic awards plan, working closely with division's publicity/marketing teams along with non-fiction programming teams to determine priority titles and design award campaigns to support these goals.
• Proposes strategic entry decisions and ensures compliance with all rules, guidelines and deadlines.
• Collaborates with guilds and Academy leadership, programmers, show producers, talent, consultants and publicists on awards and FYC strategy. Acts as the main liaison between internal departments and external award organizations for non-fiction programming.
• Provides strategic awards counsel to programming execs and talent to identify and secure appropriate award opportunities for top caliber of non-fiction programming. Working with appropriate communications teams, will also help coordinate press campaign to highlight awards efforts.

The Essentials
• The candidate holds senior level awards experience working at a major corporation, studio, network, production company or agency where he/she/they managed the development and implementation of integrated strategic awards campaigns.
• He/She/They will have demonstrated expertise supporting multiple brands/properties/projects.
• Specific experience in a global media & entertainment company is highly desired.
• This person is a proven awards strategist and tactician who has demonstrated ability to execute awards campaigns highlighting creativity, craftsmanship and pedigree of content and winning key industry awards, either as a consultant or an in-house executive.
• Smart, outgoing, personable and collegial, this person values networking and appreciates the importance of listening. He/She/They is an analytical and critical thinker who is comfortable offering new and creative ideas in the marketing/publicity/awards space.
• This person has extensive experience interacting with senior executives, producers and talent at the highest level and has proven his/her/their ability to become a respected advisor to them regarding awards issues.
• Candidate should be self-confident to deal with high level executives across all the businesses. Will have the ability and knowledge to push back where appropriate.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and calmly handles stress and various personalities with respectful confidence.
• Candidate will have experience leading awards strategies across platforms and categories including marketing, social media, advertising, press, film festivals and promotions.
• Eloquent and effective communicator. Highly organized, meticulously detail-oriented, excels at prioritizing and displays excellent intuitive judgement.
• Self-motivated and collaborative in approach.
• Adaptable to ever-changing awards and programming landscapes.
• Must be able to work holidays and weekends on a seasonal basis and long hours as needed throughout the year.
• An undergraduate degree, preferably in marketing or communications, is required; MBA or other graduate degree is a plus.
