The Job

As the Director, Content Analysis and Optimization, LATAM for HBO Max, you will leverage internal and external data (viewership, user behaviour metrics), research and competitive benchmarking to analyze and evaluate content deal opportunities and, in partnership with the WarnerMedia International Programming team, help define the HBO Max content strategy to represent consumers' needs.
Because content is core and critical to the HBO Max and WM businesses, this role requires a cross-functional leader, who is expected to partner closely with the senior leadership and teams of HBO Max LATAM (including Editorial, Product, Marketing, Data Insights and Planning) as well as WM International Programming and Local Original Production teams to efficiently and effectively inform key strategic content decisions for our business, with a focus on HBO Max consumers.

The Daily
• Support management with oversight of content offering and performance to ensure we have the right content for our current and future consumers
• Monitor regional trends and consumer preferences, tracking and compiling industry trends to advise on future content acquisitions and originals greenlighting decisions
• Conduct analysis of key business drivers, trends and performance indicators
• Regularly present analyses and updates on regional competitor content acquisition, offering/mix, usage, awards etc. in an easy-to-understand format to senior business leaders
• Work cross-functionally with HBO Max LATAM Marketing and Data Insights and Planning (DIP) teams as well as the WarnerMedia International Local Original Production (LOP) and Programming, teams to define KPIs and compiling thoughtful post-mortem analyses to determine areas for optimization and improvement
• Work closely with Product, Editorial and Scheduling and Planning teams on heatmaps, scrollmaps and benchmarks to understand how the editorial and curational presentation of content drives engagement
• Build, motivate and manage a team of regional content analysts
• In partnership with WarnerMedia International Programming team, develop audience-first, data driven strategies that drive KPI's across user segments, increasing content discovery and engagement to improve and optimize customer retention and lifetime value
• Leverage content performance and user behavior insights to inform and guide investment decisions for content including HBO Max International Originals development and content acquisitions
• Develop both the short and long-term content strategy for HBO Max, using real-time data, hypothesis-testing and ROI analyses. Assure alignment with WarnerMedia's overall content/business strategy by actively leading cross-functional communication and alignment with WarnerMedia partners

The Essentials
• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics or other relevant field that demonstrates quantitative orientation
• Experience working in both a top management consulting firm and in a media/entertainment/tech company in a strategy/business development/analytical role, including direct to consumer leadership
• Analytical mindset that can create valuable insights from user behavior data that can inform content decisions. Strives to come up with new and more effective ways of measuring the impact of content on all aspects of our business, and to communicate these learnings to all relevant parties across the organisation
• Familiarity with content licensing models, originals production process, and the TV and film ecosystem at large. Ability to effectively represent data-based and consumer-focused content recommendations and requirements
• Experience working in a fast-paced and evolving environment, with a proven track-record of being able to adapt and lead a team, as well as anticipate and understand the business needs of senior-level business managers
• Possess a high level of intellectual curiosity, focus on generating results, and exhibit the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics
• Passion for entertainment, love for content and avid watcher, as well as a passion for staying on top of industry trends (both globally and with a passion for European markets) while figuring out what the future will look like with a relentless focus on creating and improving consumer value
• A digital media maven and rare combination of ''thinker'' and ''do-er'' paired with a strong aptitude for understanding of content strategy
• Exceptional writing and verbal communication/presentation skills with track record of presenting complex analyses to executives/senior management clearly and concisely
• Experience and comfort around using quantitative data and metrics to communicate ideas and exceptional proficiency with MS Excel & PowerPoint; working knowledge of statistics and analysis packages
• The successful candidate must be motivated, disciplined and be able to work autonomously
• Energetic, positive, resilient leader with a demonstrated ability to influence, build relationships, and drive projects among complex global and cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced, constantly changing and deadline driven environment
• Fluency in written and spoken Spanish or Portuguese is essential
