Job Description
The JobHome Box Office, Inc. seeks a Digital Media Specialist for the HBO General Inc.-Production Services department. This position is a key player on the HBO Studio Services Team and reports to the Director of Studio Services (West Coast). The Digital Media Specialist is considered a technical role that is responsible for managing pre-air assets through post-production workflows and providing white glove service and support for all clients in the various departments we support. This is a ''go-to'' person for troubleshooting issues of media availability and performs activities related to the testing and maintenance of digital workflows and media management solutions. The ideal candidate must have a passion for post-production technology and be a self- motivated individual.
The Daily
• Service and support editors, colorist, audio mixers, producers/post-producers, assistants, technicians, and other clients who request content for re-use in a fast-paced environment
• Investigate and resolve media availability issues using standard media tools
• Effectively manage client expectations
• Execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for centralized edit/archival systems
• Proactively monitor and manage assets within our digital eco systems. Make recommendations and appropriate decisions for optimal system usage
• Streamline existing workflows for the storage, management, retrieval, and sharing of production assets using available hardware and software
• Use Workfront to track and fulfill work orders
• Participate in the implementation and maintenance of technology and systems used by our Studio Services team
• Stay current with file-based technologies including cameras, encoding (including software), server storage, and computer networking, etc
• Maintain a complete understanding and application of Mac/PC/Linux platforms and peripheral connectivity
• Execute departmental technical specifications and adapt to changing production processes
• Have a working knowledge of computer hardware and basic networking including but not limited to internal drives, memory, A/V cards and external storage
• Light editing for internal projects
• Setup and run screening for VFX/Mix reviews
• Manage the backup and retrieval of media to and from LTO
• Manage Aspera accounts for internal and external users
• DCP creation using Clipster and Colorfont Transkoder
• Blu-Ray Mastering/Burning
• Transcoding and frame rate conversions using Content Agent's automated workflows
• PIX account creation and file distribution
The Essentials
• Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
• At least two years of Film/TV production or Post-Production experience
• Strong working knowledge of asset movement, storage, sequencing, naming conventions, etc.
• An ability to translate technical jargon into layman terms
• Excellent client services skills with a friendly can-do attitude
• Knowledge of digital video formats, transcoding and delivery methods
• Solid understanding of video fundamentals including sync, time code, standards, formats and frame rates. Experience with video, audio and sync routing a plus
• Ability to work an afternoon shift (12 noon - 8 PM)
Preferred Skills
• Some computer programming experience is a plus
• Familiarity with automating processing is a plus
