Job Summary/Description:
This is an exciting opportunity to start your TV and online sports reporting career. It is a full-time weekend position with a big emphasis on digital coverage. We want someone willing to build their sports storytelling skills.
Your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:
• Writing for on-air and on-line
• Working knowledge of videography and non-linear editing
• Must meet deadlines and be able to multi-task
• Work alongside our Sports Director
• Anchor three days a week
• Setting up stories for reporting
• Capitalize on opportunities for digital and social coverage
• LIVE shots
• Covering D-1 College Hockey programs at Northern Michigan University and Michigan Tech University
• Emphasizing LOCAL sports coverage on the college and high school levels, plus the outdoors
• Great attitude and enjoy working with others
• Strong work ethic
• Enjoy talking with people
• Social Media involvement and knowledge
• Professional appearance
• Valid Driver's License
Qualifications/Requirements:
Enterprising stories is a must. Social media and digital platforms are a big part of our sports coverage, and the growth will continue. Posting stories and communicating with viewers through the WLUC Website, Facebook, Twitter accounts and other social media platforms is required. We're looking for those individuals able to think outside the box. You need to find sports stories that stand out in the market and leave a lasting impression with viewers. A strong grasp of the English language, spelling and grammar are a MUST! Must be able to pass a drug test and driver's background check.
