Job Summary/Description:
KCBD, the dominant #1 station on the South Plains is looking for the right meteorologist to join our award-winning news and weather team. The winning candidate will be self-motivated, aggressive, committed to quality and must have a passion for both weather and news. Must be capable of producing and presenting an engaging forecast daily and will be relied upon to shoot, write, edit, and present news as requested. Must have a passion for winning severe weather coverage in an unpredictable and sometimes volatile weather market. Will serve in supporting role to Chief Meteorologist with possible opportunities for advancement.
Your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:
Weather duties include -
- Primary role: Producing and presenting clear, accurate, and engaging forecasts Saturday 6pm & 10pm, Sunday 10pm
- Updating station's digital platforms
- Available 24/7 during severe weather season (March-June)
- Filling in meteorologist for morning and evening newscasts.
-Live reports from the field during severe weather coverage Reporting duties include:
- Writing compelling stories for on-air and online
- Shooting and editing video
Qualifications/Requirements:
- We prefer a candidate with a four-year degree in meteorology or related field
- Experience with WSI weather technology is a plus
- Excellent driving record required
- On air presenting experience a plus
