About KY3/KSPR:

KY3 and KSPR are part of a seven-station group in Springfield, MO. KY3 is one of the most dominant NBC affiliates in the country. KY3/KSPR covers 31 counties in southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas. We are proud of our close connections with the communities we serve in the Ozarks.

Job Summary/

KY3, the dominant number one television station in Springfield, Missouri is looking for its next full-time meteorologist. This legacy station located in the Ozarks has long excelled at severe weather coverage and leads the region when it comes to regional and national awards. Our ideal candidate will love covering weather on-air both at the station and in the field. We want someone who is experienced, has a great on-air personality and can work with the news director and other meteorologists on forecasts that are urgent and future driven. You will work as part of a five-member experienced and passionate weather team to cover all aspects of the four seasons in one of the most weather-diverse cities in the nation (actually voted that!). We do forecasts for a 24/7 weather channel, the NBC, ABC and CW affiliates, radio, our website and two weather apps. Every month, our weather app is rated amongst the top two in the nation for page views.

This position at KY3 is unique in that a lot of your time will be spent not only on-air, but streaming weather specials and extra content. Weather coverage is our top priority and we want your expertise on all our platforms. You will work with the news director to come up with unique weather specials and interviews viewers would like to see on Roku, AppleTV, YouTube TV, Amazon Fire, our weather apps and website. We will train you on how to effectively run your own OTT space so that you are up-to-speed on next-gen technology ahead of other television meteorologists. If you love technology, this is the place to be as we also have three IBM weather computers with all the bells and whistles and our own station radar. When not doing a weather forecast or specials for on-air/streaming, you would help with weather cut-ins as well as tape weather stories and explainers. You would also help us put together several weather specials a year, and plan/attend our annual Safe and Sound community event, and weather tour.

KY3 doesn't just work for the community, but strongly believes in maintaining special staff support. We have monthly staff lunches, employee of the month awards, baking contests (hope you make great cookies, chili or pies!) and even a committee that helps plan these events.

Since you'll have a life outside of work (that's important to us!), you'll want to know the Ozark Mountains are famous for their stunning beauty and outdoor recreation. We have multiple lakes and rivers for water sports and fishing; hiking, zip-lining, spelunking, hunting or enjoying tourist sites and towns like Branson.
