Job Summary/Description:

WILX-TV is looking for an Executive Producer. Candidates for this must display superior news judgment and strong editorial, promotional and communication skills. Candidate should also have a proven track record overseeing breaking news and severe weather coverage on all platforms and understand how to OWN a big story. Must have experience working closely with on air staff, production staff and department heads. Must engage in team building and implementing the News Director's vision. Must be a flexible team player who can think on his/her feet and remain calm during high pressure situations. The Executive Producer should be able to focus on details while achieving big-picture goals. Must be able to supervise, coach and motivate staff in a positive manner.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• The Executive Producer is responsible for the content of all WILX newscasts and for the direct supervision of the producing and reporting staff. The Executive Producer is accountable for the work product of the producing and reporting staff
• The Executive Producer will critique, instruct, and train all staff in proper writing, coverage and production of newscasts. This critique and instruction shall include making written evaluations of the producing and reporting staff
• The Executive Producer shall prepare frequent and periodic reports to keep the News Director informed of activities and conditions within the producing and reporting departments
• The Executive Producer is responsible for assigning the duties of the producing and reporting staff, including specific assignments
• The Executive Producer shall help ensure that regular work schedules, activities, Company rules, regulations, procedures, policies, and general orders are carried out
• The Executive Producer will have day-to-day producing duties

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Oversee daily newscasts, website and social media channels to ensure we are serving our local communities by sharing relevant information to alert, protect and empower our audiences
• Supervise producers and reporters, as well as, review scripts, web copy and provide feedback to encourage powerful storytelling
• Collaborate with producers on story selection, graphic elements, and pace and flow of news shows
• Brainstorm with staff on story ideas, showcasing and presentation
• Must be able to produce show
• Manage newsroom and handle breaking news situations to empower and grow our audiences
• Collaborate with News Director and other station managers to create special segments
• Planning and overseeing continuity into upcoming newscasts
• Motivate staff and encourage ''buy in'' for station's news brand, news strategies and action plans
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Proven track record of creating compelling and engaging stories across multiple platforms
• Strong writing skills and a proven track record for getting results on initiatives
• Ability to perform well under pressure, experience managing breaking news and meeting strict deadlines
• Ability to identify problems and provide solutions
• A strong commitment to journalistic standards and ethics
• Extraordinary people skills with an emphasis on coaching and motivating
• Strong understanding of how to drive digital traffic
• Minimum of 3 years producing in a television news environment or equivalent
• A college degree in Journalism or a related field is preferred
