Job Summary/Description:
The Associate Engineer at Tupelo Honey provides on-site engineering support at events or at our Indianapolis REMI facility. The Associate Engineer will apply a working knowledge of network and IT infrastructures, preventive maintenance, signal flow, troubleshooting skills, site logistics and coordination, and client interaction best practices. The primary responsibility of the Associate Engineer is to provide support to our production staff and crew to ensure a quality broadcast. This role is challenging, technically critical, and constantly evolving.
Primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assist in all aspects of the mobile unit broadcast engineering operations at remote events, including general maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of broadcast equipment
• Assist in all aspects of REMI production – In our Indianapolis Control Rooms, and on our Remote end REMI units
• Utilize test equipment to troubleshoot and resolve issues
• Provide support to EICs to test and integrate new systems
• Direct the activities of crew members related to the operation of the mobile unit, including setup and breakdown of the truck, inventory management, and proper use of equipment
• Provide exceptional on-site client service and technical support
• Clearly communicate critical information to client and your manager, including but not limited to equipment, crew, and truck-related issues
• Offer innovative, creative ideas that add value to our productions and assigned projects
• Other duties and tasks as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Working knowledge of computer/IT systems, including experience with networking, subnets, and IP configuration
• Working knowledge of audio, visual, and graphic systems used in television productions
• Work in a team-focused environment with fellow employees, office staff, clients, and crews to execute tasks, solve problems, and deliver a world class customer experience
• A demonstrated commitment to customer service and excellent communications skills are essential
• Work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment
• Perform with a high level of professionalism at all times; ability to troubleshoot and provide appropriate direction and guidance to others in high-pressure situations
• Must be an agile, strategic thinker and have strong organizational skills
• Must have a high level of self-motivation and technical aptitude
• Be able to present a positive image of Tupelo Honey
Minimum Qualifications -
• 1-2+ years of experience in broadcast engineering or broadcast production
• Demonstrates intermediate knowledge of various broadcast equipment
• Willing and able to travel nationally for shows, Airline travel and flexibility required
• Clean driving record
Physical Job Requirements -
• Must be able to work shifts that may last 10-15 hours
• Must be able to move and/or be upright for up to 8 hours at a time
• Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
• Ability to position self to assess and repair objects at floor level
• Ability to lift up to 50-75lbs frequently
• Ability to move 50lbs a distance of up to 50 feet occasionally
• Ability to horizontally transfer 40lbs on a push-pull cart up to 50 feet
• Ability to ascend and descend a ladder and stairs frequently
