WTTG/WDCA TV – Studio Technician/Technical Director (Per Diem Part-Time)

Fox 5 DC/Fox 5 Plus, the #1 news station in Washington, DC metro area airing the most hours of local news each week, is looking for a part-time Studio Technician/Technical Director to join our award winning team! Fox 5 operates out of state-of-the-art studios and facilities in the heart of downtown Bethesda, MD. We are surrounded by a restaurant scene boasting cuisines from around the world, high-end boutiques, outdoor markets and so much more! The Bethesda Metro station is just steps away.

Candidates should have experience with floor directing, live production broadcast equipment, and studio operations. We are looking for individuals who know how to deliver high quality newscasts, have a passion for journalism, and thrive in the technical news production environment. Must be comfortable operating in fast-paced, live production control rooms and studios.

JOB HIGHLIGHTS

Fill a variety of production roles and help prep material for our newscasts. Perform functions including, but not limited to, technical director, audio operator, robotic camera, and floor director. Must have a solid understanding of live production elements, specifically news production, and be able to operate live broadcast equipment. Will work in an automated control room environment. Will think critically under pressure while broadcasting within strict time constraints. Work as cohesive team. Interact professionally and respectfully with on-air staff, off-air staff, production and technical crews, and management. Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE
• High school diploma (or equivalent). Vocational/technical school, associate's degree or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years recent experience in the broadcast technician, master control, and news environment in a medium to major size market.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong technical skills – systems, equipment, software, etc.
• Friendly and collaborative spirit.
• Positive attitude.
• Good judgment.

Must be able to sit and stand for an extended period of time. Must be able to lift 20 pounds. Must be able to reach overhead, bend, squat and kneel. Fox 5 DC / Fox 5 Plus is a 24/7 operation. Varied shifts, OT, weekends & holidays may be required.
