JOB DESCRIPTION

WTTG/WDCA TV – Newscast Director (Regular Full-Time)

FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus – the #1 news station in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia with the most hours of local news – is in search of an experienced Newscast Director to join our award winning team and support our expanding broadcast schedule! Candidates should have experience directing newscasts using a production automation system, such as Sony ELC.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: Direct fast-paced newscasts as well as political, sports and lifestyle shows/specials, promotions, satellite interviews, and pre-produced segments. Lead control room team to accomplish clean technical execution of the overall look of the newscast. Work closely with producers and production crews. Provide creative input. Have a deep understanding of innovative production concepts that engage viewers. Will direct in both automated and non-automated environments. Take direction, think critically under pressure, and work professionally as part of a cohesive team and individually within specific time constraints. Be a friendly, respectful and collaborative teammate. Demonstrate a positive attitude, enthusiasm, good judgment and excellent communication skills. Interact effectively and professionally with on-air staff, off-air staff, production and technical crews, and management. Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING: HS Diploma or equivalent. Vocational/technical school or an Associate's Degree preferred. Minimum 5 years recent experience directing news related content in a medium to major size market. Experience with automation systems. Knowledge various newsroom and broadcast systems, as well as be able to adapt to new technology. Quick thinker and problem solver who thrives under pressure.

Must be able to sit and stand for extended lengths of time. WTTG/WDCA is a 24/7 operation. Shift flexibility is required. Shifts may include early mornings, weekends, holidays and OT.
