What will you do once you are here? As a writer/producer you will be a fully contributing member of the newsroom who takes the lead in evaluating, editing and organizing stories, coordinating with reporters/anchors, and producing engaging relevant newscasts that meet the highest journalistic standards. This position requires exceptional written, verbal and broadcast production skills. You must have solid news judgment. Qualified candidates will have experience writing digital stories, sending breaking push alerts, live streaming, and editing photos, graphics and videos. Must be able to work in fast-paced environment. Excellent writer and storyteller. Flawless writing and copy editing skills. High standard of quality and attention to detail. Deadline driven. Social media enthusiast. Must be exceptionally creative and able to find new ways to present information. Must be self-motivated. Ability to take direction, think critically under pressure, and work professionally as part of a cohesive team, and individually, within specific time constraints. Friendly, respectful and collaborative. Positive attitude, good judgment and excellent communication skills. Interact effectively and professionally with on-air staff, off-air staff, production and technical crews, and management. Other duties as assigned. May move throughout the station and in the field to coordinate work requirements and production. Occasionally bends stoops and crouches for work related functions. Constantly uses verbal, audible, and visual abilities to perform essential functions. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Constantly operates PC to complete required news items and related materials. Requires fine motor skills. May sit for extended periods.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or related field. Possess three (3) years of newsroom experience, preferably as a newscast producer. Two to three (2-3) years' experience in a medium to major television market is required. Experience in publishing content on digital and social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube preferred. Weekends, holidays and varied hours required.
