Fox Television Stations is one of the nation's largest owned-and-operated network broadcast groups, comprising 29 stations in 18 markets and covering over 37% of US television homes. This includes seven duopolies in the top 10 markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, DC and Houston; as well as duopolies in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Orlando and Seattle.

JOB DESCRIPTION

KTVU is searching for a Managing Editor to help oversee daily newsroom operations. A strong candidate will have a love for news and a strong commitment to the community we serve. The Managing Editor will work with other newsroom managers, reporters and producers to shape our daily editorial coverage as well as work on long-term projects and station initiatives. Seeking someone who has strong knowledge of the Bay Area and our unique, loyal news audience. The position requires a minimum of ten years professional experience and at least three years of management experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.
• Oversees Reporter and Anchor Assignments and Schedules
• Work to insure fairness and accuracy in all newscasts
• Work closely with all editorial teams to make sure newsroom is focused on digital goals
• Work with News Director and Assistant News Director on newsroom's editorial direction
• Develop ideas for and execute news specials and investigations
• Should have a strong producing background in order to assist, coach or help execute daily newscasts
• Coach newsroom staff including EP's, Producers, Anchors and Reporters

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university in Journalism or Communications preferred. A minimum of 10 years professional experience in local TV news is required for this job as well as at least 3 years of news management experience. Line Producing experience and/or On-Air Reporting experience are all a plus. F amiliarity with Bit Central, iNews and Edius a plus. Qualified candidate will have excellent communication skills, written and oral.
