ABOUT THE ROLE

The Supervisor, Media Control Center will manage all technical and operational workflows within the Media Control Center. This includes routing, monitoring, and troubleshooting of inbound and outbound distribution paths for linear and OTT platforms. Responsibilities will also include monitoring and management of on premise and cloud resources. This position requires engineering level broadcast transmission expertise, which includes a deep knowledge of satellite encoders/decoders, fiber terrestrial and satellite transmission. You must be capable of quickly restoring all technical failures to avoid revenue loss during distribution, and you will be challenged to leverage your technical skills to solve diverse problems. This position will also manage highly complex, addressable satellite distribution systems for Fox networks on linear, digital, OTT and streaming platforms

This role is part of the Media Operations team, which is responsible for delivering a high-quality viewer experience to millions of viewers across Fox networks, digital platforms, mobile applications, websites, and licensing partnerships. In short, we bring great Fox content to YOU!

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Media Control Center Tech Operations
• Lead the tech team that performs the monitoring and switching of all inbound, outbound and downstream transmission systems
• Troubleshoot and fix signal quality, routing issues and incidences according to standard operating procedures
• Responsible for quickly restoring on air feeds, during technical failures.
• Oversee live transmission signal check-ins with remote production venues during live events
• Set up equipment to receive and distribute feeds to and from the media control center
• Manage all communications with management teams, affiliates and other third party or downstream partners

Collaboration & Partnerships
• Partner with Disaster Recovery teams to perform backups and to test and maintain Cable NMC switching for alt feeds and blackouts
• Collaborate with the engineering teams to support release management, security testing and application performance monitoring as well as Cyber security activity mitigation
• Team up with other Media Operations teams to develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Work closely with all business units and provide world class customer service support.

Performance Improvement
• Promote the use of data to make business decisions
• Track operations dashboards and constantly look for ways to make things work better, faster, and smoother
• Prioritize the use of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to motivate the team

People Management & Development
• Jump on opportunities to learn new skills, especially in emerging technologies
• Utilize existing career development programs to advance career
• Build and motivate high performing teams to deliver high quality products
• Partner with management to develop all-star teams

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Experience leading broadcast and distribution teams
• Experience with media transmission systems and terrestrial and satellite distribution systems
• Experience with testing equipment such as signal generator, wave form monitors, and transport stream analyzers
• Familiarity with receiving systems such as Arris DCII, Arris Modular, and Cisco Power VU systems
• Knowledge and understating of affiliate switching for regional blackouts, alternate feeds, etc.
• Technical knowledge of Media Supply Chain, Video on Demand (VOD), and Over the Top (OTT) Systems
• Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions
• Proven ability to anticipate issues, to troubleshoot, and solve problems quickly and know when to escalate

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER
• A Bachelor's Degree is awesome, but not required
• Knowledge of emerging technologies such as 4K High Dynamic Range, and HDR10+ is a plus
• Knowledge of industry standards such as Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) and Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE)
