FOX Weather is a 24/7 ad-supported streaming service operated by FOX News Media. Launched in October 2021, the platform builds upon FOX News Channel's expansive newsgathering units & FOX Television Stations' added resources with a combined 120 meteorologists for a comprehensive suite of weather products featuring local, regional and national reporting, in addition to live programming. Utilizing multiple radar systems, including an immersive mobile 3D radar, and more than 100,000 HD cameras located around the country, the service offers users an innovative approach to forecasting, including coverage surrounding all weather patterns, from immediate to long-term. FOX Weather is available via foxweather.com, the FOX Weather app on IOS and Android devices, as well as Tubi, Apple TV, Amazon, and Roku, through FOX's Connected TV Apps.

JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX Weather is looking for a highly motivated, proactive, Assignment Editor to join our Assignment Desk at our headquarters in New York. We are looking for individuals with strong news judgment and weather experience who can handle multiple breaking stories in our fast-paced network newsroom environment. You will work closely with digital, social, and show teams along with field crews, Fox network teams and Fox Stations to integrate our coverage throughout all platforms.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Create and maintain an information hub for breaking and ongoing weather stories
• Identify breaking, ongoing and future weather stories and pursue potential elements
• Cull editorial information from a variety of sources including officials, contacts and media
• Identify and collect video, soundbites and User Generated Content
• Communicate information and video elements with all Fox Weather teams
• Build strong relationships with Assignment Desks at Fox platforms, affiliates and other news service partners
• Assist FOX Weather Correspondents and Multi-Media Reporters to develop and produce great stories, and cover breaking news
• Assist in all duties carried out by fellow Assignment Desk team members

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field of study is preferred, or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of network or local media market newsgathering experience
• Strong editorial judgment and a passion for breaking news
• Familiarity with iNews or comparable systems
• Understanding of tapeless workflow in a newsroom
• Knowledge of and experience covering national and regional interest breaking news stories, and coordination of field teams
• Must be available and willing to work all shifts including weekends, overnights, and/or early mornings.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $73,000.00-92,000.00 annually for New York City and Westchester County, NY. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
