Job Description
The International Productions Department leads production for domestic and international sporting events and studio programs, and services our various platforms, channels, and partners around the world.
This Producer I position will work alongside other production and technical personnel to produce live and taped sports studio programming. The Producer I position will report to the Coordinating Producer. #ESPNMedia
Responsibilities:
• Coordinates with members of the production and technical staff to create sports studio programs for ESPN's international markets
• Uses mastery of US and international sports knowledge and news judgment to determine the concept, rundown, and creative content of assigned sports news programs to produce compelling and market relevant studio shows for various international regions served
• Leads the assigned on-air staff to write compelling scripts for assigned sports news program that is authentic to the international markets served
• Oversees Associate Producers, Content Associates, and Production Assistants to create and develop segments, teases, montages, and other visual elements for assigned sports news programs
• Adjusts studio show content to accommodate breaking news situations; interprets breaking news and translates it into program content
• Participates in or develops concepts and content for assigned sports news stories to reach viewers and to increase ESPN's market penetration, ratings, and viewership across all platforms
• Executes and develops sales elements with the guidance from regional offices to best meet clients' needs
Basic Qualifications:
• Demonstrates deep knowledge of US and International sports, such as NFL, NBA, MLB, UFC, and soccer
• Expert knowledge of television production techniques used in a digital control room; experienced at producing a rundown for assigned sports news studio program
• Has a good understanding of ESPN's international markets, such as Australia, UK, Asia, and Africa
• Expert copy writing skills and news judgment to shape and enhance storylines using visual and verbal elements; strong ability to check and proof content for grammar, spelling, clarity, and impact under tight deadlines
• Demonstrates strong ability to show leadership, to drive content and to leverage relationships by working collaboratively with team members across departments and regions
• Demonstrates strong communication skills and ability to react quickly and positively under a wide variety of sensitive production situations that continually arise and are subject to change
• Knowledgeable of video editing skills in a non-linear environment with the ability to edit their own content
• Proficient in operating a video camera and leading a production at a remote event
• Flexible attitude towards constantly changing work conditions, schedules, and assignments
Preferred Qualifications:
• 5 years of progressively complex related studio or related production experience
