The Media Strategy & Planning Team at ESPN develops innovative communication strategies & media plans that drive awareness, consumption, and brand affinity across all properties and platforms to impact the ESPN business.
The Media Scheduler will focus on supporting the holistic media activation of ESPN linear channels and platforms. The Media Scheduler will be responsible for trafficking and scheduling media assets accurately and timely. Thriving in a data heavy, detail oriented environment, this role requires a candidate with exceptional interpersonal skills and great attention to detail. This person should naturally be curious, provide objective analysis, and be thoughtful and creative. This position will report to the Director of Linear Scheduling and Director of Media Planning and Operations and collaborate closely with others within the group, as well as across ESPN and The Walt Disney Company.
Responsibilities:
• Build schedules within program formats for play-out to air by way of on air scheduling systems and applications
• Validate broadcast schedules for reliable on-air execution prior to play out including manual edits for late breaking and schedule changes
• Provide formatting and event scheduling recommendations, and assist with troubleshooting as needed
• Serves as a subject matter expert and point of contact for media delivery
• Assist in actualization of media for different mediums of promotions
• Designs, develops and maintains up-to-date training curriculum for the on-air scheduling team
• Lead meetings, own communication and documentation for activation of media
Basic Qualifications:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to learn new software programs and applications
• Strong client service skills required
• Proven effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work across multiple groups/levels in an organization
• Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure, team-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to adapt in a constantly changing environment
• Works with urgency in deadline driven environment
• Willingness and open availability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to meet the 24/7 operational needs
Preferred Qualifications:
• Up to 1 year of related experience
• Professional experience working with traffic systems or any on-air scheduling system
• Strong entertainment industry knowledge, preferably in sports
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision and direction
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Outstanding interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
• Able to get ideas across properly and smoothly
• Curiosity and passion for understanding the ''why'' underneath the surface
• Conscientious
• Marketing or business degree preferred
• Fluency in Spanish would be helpful
Required Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent professional experience required
